Windows

A sash window is judged from the pavement.

Get the horn wrong, or the glazing bar too heavy, and the window reads as modern work in an old wall. Nobody says why. They just notice.

Ours are proper box sashes. Run-through horns, correct meeting rail depths, glazing bars in the pattern you choose, made to your sizes and finished before delivery.

Georgian frontages on the old high streets, Victorian villas above Reigate, tile-hung Wealden cottages, street after street of London terrace. Between weights and springs, six-over-six and plain glass, there is a sash for most of them.

Sash is the speciality, not the limit. Casements, French doors, bi-folds and entrance doors come in the same timber and the same finish.

Both sashes move

A box sash is double-hung: the top drops as well as the bottom rising. Most people who have lived with them all their lives have never tried it. Click a label to see what each part does.

Timber

Engineered & preserved

Laminated engineered softwood, chemically preserved throughout. Engineered sections stay straight where solid timber cups and twists, which matters most on tall, narrow sashes and on door leaves that have to keep shutting.

Glazing

Double or single

Double-glazed units reaching a U-value of 1.1, comfortably inside Building Regulations. Single glazing where a conservation officer insists on it, since the frames are built either way. Toughened glass to critical locations as standard.

Detailing

Traditional throughout

Run-through horns, correct meeting rail depths, glazing bars in six-over-six, eight-over-eight or a single vertical bar. Flush casements sit properly in the frame. External cills where the opening calls for one.

Finish

Factory-sprayed

Sprayed under factory conditions in any classic RAL colour, a far better paint film than anything achievable on a scaffold in March. Arrives glazed, painted and ready to fit.
